Sat, 25 May 2019Chinese Local Governments I was invited by Chinese Local governments with my wife to go on an exploratory relationship building mission to China from 25 May to 4 June 2019. Visas were paid for by Dr Chenguang Sun of the Cambridge Education Centre. Saturday 25 and Sunday 26 May 2019 - Travel 2. Business class flights from London Heathrow to Nanjing Lukou International, 25 May Paid for by the local government. 3. Flights from Nanjing Lukou International to Yangzhou Taizhou International, 26 May. Paid for by the local government. 4. Suite at the Shangri-La hotel, 26 May to 28 May. Breakfasts included. This was paid for by the local government in Yangzhou. Monday 27 May 2019 - Yangzhou 5. Transport to several meetings by car. This was arranged and paid for by the local government. 6. We attended the First House for a meeting and banquet meal which was hosted by the local government in Yangzhou. Tuesday 28 May 2019 – Yangzhou 7. For breakfast we were invited to the oldest tea shop in Yangzhou for a banquet meal. This was hosted by the local government in Yangzhou. 8. Transport to several meetings with business by car. This was arranged and paid for by the local government in Yangzhou. 9. Banquet lunch at the Shangri-La Hotel. This was hosted by the local government in Yangzhou. 10. Tour of the Moon Lake Park including private music performance and boat ride with the Deputy Mayor. This was hosted by the local government in Yangzhou. 11. Evening banquet meal hosted next to the airport hosted by the local government in Yangzhou due to a delayed flight. 12. Flights from Yangzhou Taizhou International to Guangzhou Baiyun International. 13. Suite at the InterContinental Guangzhou Exhibition Centre Hotel. Breakfasts provided. Paid for by the local government in Guangzhou. Wednesday 29 May - Guangzhou 14. Banquet lunch at the oldest restaurant in Guangzhou. Hosted privately by Miss LiLi. 15. Visit to the museum hosted by Miss LiLi, who gifted us with some books. 16. A private evening banquet meal hosted by the Guangdong Province local government. Thursday 30 May 2019 – Guangzhou and Shenzen 17. A banquet meal hosted by the Huangpu District local government in one of their government buildings. 18. Travel to Shenzen by car, arranged and paid for by the local government. 19. A room at the Futian Shangri-La Hotel in Shenzen, 30 May to Sunday 2 June. 20. Transport to meetings on this day was by car, and arranged and paid for by Vanky. 21. A meeting and private meal hosted by Arton at their building. Friday 31 May 2019 - Shenzen 22. A visit with Vanky. A simple business lunch was provided by Vanky. 23. An evening Japanese sushi meal hosted by Chenguang Sun and wife in a commercial restaurant. Saturday 1 June 2019 – Shenzen 24. A hot pot dinner at a commercial restaurant. Hosted by Dr Chenguang Sun and his wife. Sunday 2 June 2019 – Hong Kong 25. Banquet style lunch hosted at a commercial restaurant by Dr Chenguang Sun and wife. 26. Travel to Hong Kong by car, provided by Vanky. 27. Double room at the Gold Coast Hotel in Hong Kong. Paid for by the local government. 2 June to 3 June. Monday 3 June 2019 – Hong Kong 28. Flew back business class from Hong Kong International Airport, with a connecting flight from Beijing Capital International Airport to London Heathrow. I also received various gifts of low value from different parties, below the value of £25. It is impossible to quantify the total value of the trip exactly as I was not privy to any receipts – but I have estimated this to be in the range of £6,000 - £8,000 total.
