Improvement of Mill Lane St Neots/Little Paxton bridges and road surface to avoid closures and prevent flooding
Please help by signing this petition. We need 3000 signatures to get it debated by CCC.There was a petition around 10 years ago which had almost 2000 and it was read out but no action was taken to resolve the issue.. We have thousands more residents in the surrounding towns and we are all affected by the disruption, now is your time to get this ongoing problem resolved. Thanks everyone for taking the time to get involved.
Residents and businesses in Cambridgeshire need this vital route open at all times. We would like the County council to debate the posibility of improving the bridges and road. We are told by some that it would 'cost millions' to rebuild the bridges or raise the road and we would like to see some evidence to allow us to be more informed.
Suggestions not limited to:
Do a cost/benefit analysis associated with improving the access (residents and businesses lose income, spend more on fuel, waste time. miss appointments and increase environmental polution)
Flood defences
Raising of the roads either side of the bridges
Limit or stop heavy goods vehicles using the route
Build a stronger road to avoid future damage
Guarantee flood warning signs are working at all times
Place diversion signs in appropriate locations
Ensure developers using the infrastructure contribute to the community

The approved recommendation is as follows:
- approval of a virement of £250,000 from the £1.5m that remains unallocated over the
next five years in the Medium Term Financial Strategy from the Digital and Change
Reserve to the Bridge Maintenance Fund.
- that Highways and Transport Committee be asked to assess whether an options
appraisal for Mill Lane is good value for money, and whether there are other capital
projects which could benefit from similar work to ensure that Mill Lane and other areas
remain passable during flooding.
